General

There are many resources and supports in British Columbia for individuals living with HIV. Below are some resources available at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, Positive Living Society of British Columbia and other organizations in Vancouver. BC-CfE Primary Care Guidelines – Information for Patients
Provides a quick overview of HIV and a short introduction to treatment and connection with a physician or other healthcare provider. (Website compatible with mobile devices)

Provides a description of the HIV Drug Treatment Program at the BC-CfE in a Q&A format. (PDF document)

HIV Care Registry
Connects HIV-positive individuals with HIV experienced physicians and healthcare providers throughout British Columbia. (Website developed by Positive Living Society of BC)

Best Practice Guidelines: Caring for client who are risk for or are living with HIV/AIDS
Contains recommendations for practice in the delivery of HIV care for nurses in acute care and community settings, developed by the Canadian Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (CANAC). (PDF document)

HIV Testing Handbook: A Guide to your Rights
A guide for both patients and providers on the patient’s rights regarding HIV testing created by the BC Civil Liberties Association.
